The Grown and Sexy came through and packed the house Tuesday night at ATL Live on the Park that took place at Park Tavern. Among those in attendance was Ronnie DeVoe of New Edition, Damion Hall of R&B group Guy, and Hair Extraordinaire and Reality Show Star Derek J. Cameras were flashing everywhere as we eagerly awaited the talent of the up and coming artist. While we waited, we enjoyed great food and drinks as DJ Trauma was going in on the 1’s and 2’s. Television and TV celebrity Kenny Burns hosted the event. This man should add comedian to his list of accomplishments; he had us laughing all night.
Finally, the house band, The Teddy White Band starts the music. This handsome, tall young man named Chrystian steps up and grabs the mic. Chrystian is signed with NZBeersa which is distributed through Sony Red. He currently has a hot single that will be available soon featuring Lil Twist named “Go”. At first glance, he looks like he should be playing basketball. However, when he opens his mouth, I am blown away. This young man can sang and his falsetto is unlike any that I have heard. Chrystian has the voice and the moves that will appeal to the young ladies. At the end of his set, he blessed us with an a capella rendition of “This Women’s Work “by Maxwell. This young man gave me goose-bumps; I fully expect this young man blow up.
Next up is Compound/Columbia recording artist Ravaughn Brown. Currently her single “You Better Be Good” is hitting the airwaves. First of all, this young lady is beautiful. However, I am like many in that I am always curious as to if a singer will sound as good live as they do on the radio or their CD. Ms. Brown did not disappoint; as she was stepping on the stage, she belted out an a capella snippet of Lauryn Hill’s Ex-Factor. At that time, I knew that she was the truth. Ravaughn’s sassy, sexy style mesmerized the crowd; many had their phones out recording this phenomal talent. We were definitely left with ours mouths hanging open. I am looking forward to picking up her album when it drops.
The final artist was none other than Ray Lavender. Ray, who was formerly with Akon’s Konvict Music, is currently an independent artist signed to Global Artist Group. He sizzled the stage as soon as he hit it with his hot single “My Girl Gotta Girlfriend”. His smooth, gritty voice over raw sexual lyrics appealed particularly to the ladies. This is a good looking brother; he wears many hats being a singer/songwriter/actor/model. Mr. Lavander has great energy and he tantalized the crowd with his catchy hooks . Ray Lavender is back on his hustle and I am looking forward to hearing more from him.
ATL Live on the Park was a huge success, it was wonderfully coordinated and took place in the elegant indoor/outdoor venue Park Tavern. This live event is a part of what makes Atlanta a hub for great music.
