Robert DeNiro and Sylvestor Stalone star in Grudge Match with a familiar story line formula that has worked many times before; but does it still work?

We find Billy “The Kid” McDonnen (played by DeNiro) playing as one half a 30-year dueling duo.  He has spent the last 30 years of his life milking the fame from the hype of fighting a 3rd and deciding round of who is the better fighter; him…or the other guy.

The other guy: Henry “Razor” Sharp (played by Stallone).  Razor has been spending his last years working in a steel mill playing the low-key card.  All the time, Razor has been trying to steer obviously clear of any talk about fighting The Kid.

That’s a quick and dirty back-story, now onto the present day.  We have Dante Slate, Jr. (played by Kevin Hart).  Slate Jr is trying to come up.  He needs money; like we all do!  He sees an opportunity in the grudge match of the century by getting Razor and The Kid to fight to finally settle the ongoing dispute.  And did I mention that Slate Jr. is the son of the original fight promoter between the two?

DeNiro and Stallone spend the entire movie fighting and bickering and about why Razor didn’t want a rematch.  And then about why The Kid is so annoying with his constant promotion of a 30-year old grudge.  Slate Jr. has to play a constant referee between the two where it comes off a little exhausting at times.

The movie overall, was worth the watch.  When you hear iconic actors like DeNiro & Stallone in a movie, you want to at least see it.  Then the funniest man alive right now, Kevin Hart, you can’t lose.  It’s Christmas time and you have plenty of time off of work.  Go to the movies, watch Grudge Match and be happy.  It’s the holidays!
