Allison attends Brawl for a Cause for Pop Life Radio

Have you ever dreamed of getting in a boxing ring and brawling it out? Well here’s your chance with the 2nd annual fundraiser/gala Brawl for a Cause. Brawl for a Cause trains, equips and inspires everyday people to literally fight for what they believe in. Their belief is that each person has a hero within. If given the right opportunity and platform, those heroes will emerge and fight for the change they want to see in the world.

Pop Life Radio had the honor of meeting with the driven and successful, Matt Thomas, Founder of Brawl for a Cause. Matt expressively told us his story, explaining why he loves boxing, what inspires him, and how dropping out of law school and becoming an entrepreneur changed his life. After overcoming many obstacles last year the organization ended up raising over $226,000. Matt’s goal is to raise $1 billion for charity in his lifetime and he is well on his way.

Excitement filled the arena as we witnessed 15 of the most compassionate and intense brawls to benefit over 20 different charities. Amateur boxer Jake Kirshner spoke to us about his experience, “ I had a coach when I was 12 or 13 years old who suffered from Parkinson’s and I decided to enter Brawl for a Cause in honor of him. Tonight I’m fighting for him and to give back to other Parkinson’s suffers.” Jake went on to win his match, all for charity.

For those of you who aren’t into boxing there’s a silent auction with beautiful paintings and donations from local celebrities like Shaquille O’Neal. If that’s not enough excitement for you you can always try your hand at blackjack. After spending the evening watching boxing, enjoying food and drinks and winning few hands of blackjack we were reminded of the reason all of us to came together….for charity. This year’s event raised over $336,000. We look forward to continuing to follow Matt’s success and can’t wait for next years event.
