Atlanta based hip-hop trio ‘The Jupes’ may have met in a local community youth group, but music brought them together. While each attended a different Atlanta-area high school, the group worked tirelessly in their free time on writing and recording new music. Finally in 2011 things seemed to take off when they caught the eye of up-and-coming producer Wallstreet, who knew they had potential to become a smash- one of the few racially diverse hip-hop groups for a new generation. He signed them to Brain Control Records that same year and guided their edgy hip-hop sound into a softer more dance-able direction.

The group intentionally keeps their work “clean”, and promotes profanity-free lyrics and subject matter in the hopes of inspiring listeners. The quirky band name comes from a collective daydream they all had about being from another planet, and thus the appellation ‘The Jupes’ seemed to stick. Group members Shone Scarebrook (Shoneyy), Jonah Swilley, and Paris Coleman (Pco) all come from different backgrounds, and each refer to a wide variety of musical influences-from Busta Rhymes, Kanye West, Damien Marley, and even Johnny Cash. The light-hearted mash-up of their look and sounds lends to the widespread appeal of the band.

On the music scene the young group (all members are under the age of 21) is known for their infectious energy and playfulness. The multi-talented triple-threats play instruments and even dance, but don’t get them confused with any boy band of the 2000’s- their playful single “89” makes them come across as a playful mix of David Guetta, Flo-Rida and Public Enemy.

With the drop of their first album in July the band makes the music available to fans via their website along with their first official music video for their debut single “Pow”. Check them out!
